Most advice about love is either a slogan or a sales pitch. "Love yourself first." "Never chase." "Know your worth." They sound true because they are short, and they help almost nobody, because nobody explains what any of it looks like on a Tuesday.

This blog is our attempt at the opposite. We write about the conversations people avoid, the questions they should have asked earlier, and the difference between a standard and a wall. Everything here comes from the work we actually do: talking to serious-minded singles every week, introducing people thoughtfully, and watching what holds and what falls apart.

Who writes it

Marggie, The Shakara Matchmaker at Marggies Love Lounge. Most pieces are written from matchmaking and coaching conversations, anonymised. When we use an example, we change the details. When we do not know something, we say so rather than filling the gap with a slogan.

What we cover

  • DatingMeeting people well, and choosing with your eyes open.
  • RelationshipsThe everyday work of staying close to someone.
  • MarriagePreparation, commitment, and building one life.
  • Self-LoveKnowing your worth without building a wall around it.
  • MatchmakingHow intentional introductions actually work.
  • Culture & SocietyFamily, money, faith and the Nigerian context.

How we write

Plainly. No games, no jargon, no pretending that dating in Nigeria looks the same as dating anywhere else. Money, family and faith come up in almost every conversation we have, so they come up here too.

If a piece does not change what you would actually do, it should not have been written.

What this blog is not

It is not a substitute for the hard conversation you need to have with the person in front of you. We can give you better questions. Only the two of you can give the honest answers.
